2d Cavalry Regiment Soldier dies in car accident

A Soldier assigned to Comanche Troop, 1st Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Spc. Tyler Vaughan, 22, died March 18. The accident happened in Tanzfleck, Germany near the Grafenwoehr U.S. Army bases.

Vaughan joined the Army in September 2014 as an infantryman. He attended basic training at Fort Benning, Ga. His first duty station was with Comanche Troop where he held the position of rifleman, machine-gunner and fire team leader. He also deployed for seven months with the Squadron to Sinai, Egypt for the Multinational Force and Observers mission.

His awards and decorations include two Army Commendation Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Multinational Force and Observers Medal. He also earned the Expert Infantry Badge and graduated from the Basic Leadership Course.
