A staunch work ethic, dedication, can-do attitude and unfailing support are more than key phrases in an award nomination packet. They are the character and deeds that earned one Security Assistance Command employee top honors.

Ehsan Saqib, a supply technician with the Riyadh-based Office of the Program Manager-Saudi Arabian National Guard, was named Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of fiscal 2017 for his outstanding job performance.

Serving as the G4 supervisory supply technician for the Facilities and Housing Branch, Saqib is described by his leadership as working tirelessly to provide excellent support to the OPM-SANG compound, Eskan Village, and the organization's more remote sites.

"I was so honored but I don't believe I've done anything special," said Saqib, a sports enthusiast who enjoys playing cricket and spending time outdoors with his wife and four children. "I am very thankful for the recognition. It means I was chosen out of so many amazing colleagues who are like family to me."

Among his many duties, Saqib operates and maintains the furniture and appliance warehouse, operates the O&M Contractor's Hand Tool Replacement Program, supervises a contract staff, and ensures adequate stock of all materials and repair parts and furnishings appliances are maintained.

Personally involved in every maintenance and repair action on Eskan Village, he also supports all command functions including Oktoberfest, Organization Day and the Holiday Ball -- especially important morale boosters for the faraway location.

OPM-SANG Chief of G4 Lt. Col. Maurice Lewis said Saqib's behind-the-scenes efforts and above-and-beyond attitude "have assured success in these events year in and year out."

But his hard work has yielded more than higher quality of life and employee morale; it has resulted in a significant financial savings for the organization.

"Saqib led an effort to reduce the cost of replacement furniture for the OPM-SANG residential and TDY villas," Lewis noted in the award nomination packet. After he coordinated with the lead procurement agent to obtain new furniture, blanket purchase agreement discussions are ongoing due the groundwork he laid in October 2016, Lewis said.

Lewis described Saqib as "a well-rounded logistician who has influenced the successful operation for four branches of G4" and said he is an invaluable asset to the OPM-SANG team and "his impact is felt across the command."
