When it comes to a town hall, the Army Contracting Command-Redstone knows how to put its employees on stage.

During the fiscal year 2017 first quarter ACC-Redstone Town Hall on Feb. 22 in the Bob Jones Auditorium, several employees were recognized in the organization's ongoing program to showcase exceptional employee performance.

"This is about recognizing our employees and the great things you do," said Terry Butler, the narrator at the town hall.

As part of ACC-Redstone efforts to provide employees with new opportunities, military deputy Col. Kenny Johnson reviewed with employees the organization's future Deliberate Development Program.

"This program will provide a pathway that can get you promoted to the next step and even to director or the senior executive service. It involves coaches, mentors and a program that helps you grow yourself as a professional."

Such development is essential to an organization that has a substantial impact on the Army's aviation and missile programs.

"Every single day, you support the Army Materiel Command's mission to develop and deliver materiel readiness," Johnson said. "Every one of you is contributing to this mission and is making a difference. Your contracting experiences is a key enabler to the Army's number one priority of readiness.

"Our Army has to be ready to go tonight, and they are because of the products and capabilities you deliver through contracting. On behalf of our customers and senior leaders, 'Thank you for what you do every day to support the warfighter.'"

Johnson, who recently returned from a four-month deployment to Afghanistan, said that even though ACC-Redstone contracting employees aren't at the tip of the spear, the work they do enables Soldiers to hold the spear.

"If a Soldier wears it, eats it, flies it, shoots it or drives it, AMC provides it and professionals like you do the contracting for it," Johnson said.

Other presentations during the town hall included information on teleworking, the Green Platoon Project that provides standardized, integrated and sequenced training for interns and new employees, strategic planning for the organization, the pricing mission and vision, guidance on contract requirements packages and procurement administration lead times.
