REDSTONE ARSENAL, Alabama -- Members of the Tennessee Valley made a lifetime of difference through their generosity during the 2016 Combined Federal Campaign.

The annual Tennessee Valley Combined Federal Campaign exceeded its $2 Million goal by raising $2,209,049 to help those less fortunate.

"Once again, Tennessee Valley members have demonstrated a tremendous generosity beyond my expectations through the 2016 Combined Federal Campaign," said Lt. Gen. Larry Wyche, deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Materiel Command and Redstone Arsenal senior commander, who served as honorary chairman of the 2016 Tennessee Valley Combined Federal Campaign Coordinating Committee. "Your generosity is tremendous and contagious. We can all take pride in the success of the 2016 campaign and the $2.2 Million toward our $2 Million goal to local, national and international charity organizations.

"I am very proud of our campaign managers, keyworkers, financial chairs, contributors and everyone who was involved with making this year's campaign another success," he added. "Congratulations Tennessee Valley and our campaign team. We truly adhered to the spirit of the campaign slogan 'Show Some Love.'"

The 2016 CFC campaign ran Sept. 1-Dec. 15.

The top five federal organizations, based on participation rate, included the National Weather Service, 92.86 percent; Social Security Administration-Decatur, 73.91 percent; General Services Administration, 71.43 percent; Targets Management Office, 68.57 percent; and Government Accountability Office, 66.67 percent.

"Overall the Tennessee Valley campaign was a great success," said KC Bertling, 2016 Tennessee Valley Combined Federal Campaign chairperson. "CFC is the workplace giving program through the federal government of the United States of America. CFC effectively provides all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. CFC also promotes and supports philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, and cost-efficient."

The per capita gift was $108; and the average gift was $584. Donors could designate to more than 24,000 charities, including over 120 in the local area.

"CFC belongs to the federal employee," Bertling said. "It is a partnership between the employee, the federal government and the charitable organizations that benefit all. It is a complete donors' choice campaign. You choose to direct your support to charities that work on the issues you care deeply about."
