CAMP ZAMA, Japan (February 9, 2017), As the focus on readiness by senior Army leaders and Congress continues to shape organizational mission focus across the Army, MEDDAC-Japan is tackling the medical aspect of readiness head on at Camp Zama.

Readiness is the U.S. Army's number one priority and medical readiness is a key factor in ensuring Soldiers are ready to fight today and prepared to fight tomorrow. According to Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), the majority of non-deployable Soldiers are due to medical reasons. In addition, HQDA has revealed that 38 percent of medically non-deployable Soldiers are Medical Readiness Classification 4 or MRC4. These are Soldiers who simply require a Periodic Health Assessment (PHA) or Annual Dental exam, or both, to be removed from the non-deployable classification.

Targeting this 38 percent, MEDDAC-Japan assists USARJ leadership by providing medical assets for monthly Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) stations at Camp Zama. These efforts have significantly advanced USARJ's medical readiness in less than 3 months. The success of the SRP process at Camp Zama is a true testament to the leadership at all tenant units Post wide.
