Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall was recognized by the Virginia Environmental Excellence Program for attaining an Exemplary Environmental Enterprise or E3 designation with a plaque presentation at the quarterly recognition ceremony held Jan. 26 at the Spates Community Club.
The award was presented by Joint Base Commander Col. Patrick M. Duggan to members of the Directorate of Public Works' Environmental Management Division, comprised of Mark Luckers, Roy Croom, Kristie Lalire, Greg Olmsted and Richard P. LaFreniere.
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ) assigns an E3 designation to a facility with a fully implemented Environmental Management System (EMS), to include pollution prevention, which demonstrates performance and ultimately compliance. The JBM-HH EMS manages, reduces and eliminates risks to the environment and ensures environmental stewardship is integrated into the overall management of the installation's activities and operations.
"Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall takes great pride in protecting the environment," said LaFreniere, chief of the Environmental Management Division. "We are honored by the VDEQ recognition of our EMS and compliance program and look forward to a continued partnership with VDEQ."
JBM-HH is one of only three Army Installations to attain the E3 designation by the state of Virginia.
