She's still not finished.
While winning Career Counselor of the Year on both the Fort Jackson and TRADOC level was
very rewarding, Sgt. 1st Class Typre Beasley still has her eyes set on winning at the highest level.
"I've been in the Army for 20 years and sometimes, at least for me, you feel like you haven't
measured up or got the recognition," she said. "I don't feel like I made the marks like I should of. Winning for me will feel like making my mark."
Beasley was announced the TRADOC Career Counselor of the Year Jan. 26 after competing at Fort Eustis.
She will move on to compete in the Department of the Army competition at the end of February.
"There are so many great things happening at Fort Jackson and now, Sgt. 1st Class Beasley is a small part of that," said Sgt. Maj. Michael Kouneski, the Command Career Counselor. "She has put in a lot of hard work to ensure that she is the 'best' at what she does and her hard work paid off."
Beasley says she will prepare for the competition by relying on the help of leadership. Several
leaders have offered to help her study by creating mock versions of the board she would have to go
against.
"Winning is my way of proving to myself that I am a good Soldier," said Beasley. "Winning is my
personal goal to myself."
