The new Commanding General for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, Maj. Gen. Andrew P. Poppas, met with Blanchfield Army Community Hospital leadership Jan. 6 before changing command with Maj. Gen. Gary J. Volesky Jan. 19.

Poppas is no stranger to Fort Campbell, as he served as both a brigade commander and then as a deputy commanding general. In speaking with BACH leadership, Poppas learned about the most recent structure, capability and services offered by the medical team and also BACH's initiative to become a Level III Trauma Center. Poppas' enthusiasm sparked as he heard about BACH's Virtual Health capabilities and looks forward to helping BACH expand their virtual health capabilities to 101st Soldiers. During his visit, Poppas toured the Mother/Baby unit, the Emergency Center, Behavioral Health and the Intrepid Spirit.
