Regional Health Command Europe is helping to ensure Soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division in Poland have reliable access to health care while participating in Atlantic Resolve.
Col. Edward Michaud, RHCE Clinical Operations Chief, and Jeremy Schneider, RHCE Managed Care Officer, joined medical leaders from the 3/4IN, the 16th Sustainment Brigade, and the 30th Medical Brigade in Poland to take part in an interoperability forum and medical care assessment led by the 16th Sustainment Brigade.
During the visit, the group discussed TRICARE support, interoperability, and received an Atlantic Resolve medical capabilities briefing.
Michaud and Schneider visited to gain a shared understanding on how to better support the RAF elements and enhance efforts toward a Strong Europe.
"The 16SB and 3/4 IN were enthusiastic and relished the challenges of their mission in Eastern Europe," Michaud said. "This visit was invaluable for our staff to understand the capabilities as well as challenges faced by our medical staffs and Soldiers."
The discussion outlined the way forward for providing first-class medical services for Soldiers in Atlantic Resolve, enhancing speed of payment, and creating documents capable of being processed in the English and Polish languages.
According to Lt. Col. Joseph Hudak, 16 Sustainment Brigade Surgeon, "over the past 18 months, we have forged a path in the EUCOM JOA to develop a joint medical common operating picture, establish relationships at multiple levels within our Allies' health systems, and ensure our Soldiers receive the world class health care they deserve. Our Allies have been superb in their treatment of Soldiers and the emergency medical system is exceptional."
The group also toured both the Zagan and Zagry Polish hospitals and had an opportunity to discuss health care with the directors of both.
"Ensuring the best medical care for our Soldiers involved with Atlantic Resolve is a priority for [Brig. Gen. Dennis LeMaster, RHCE Commanding General,]" Michaud said. "The Polish military and medical facilities were outstanding both in their willingness to care for our Soldiers as well as the excellent level of care they provide."
