Soldier killed in a non-combat related accident

FORT CAMPBELL, KY - A U.S. service member killed in Jordan on Jan. 7, 2017 was a member of 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He has been identified as Spc. Isiah L. Booker, 23.

Booker died as a result of injuries suffered in a non-combat related incident which is currently under investigation.

Booker, a native of Cibolo, Texas, enlisted in the Army in 2014 as a cook, and he served with 2nd Battalion, 5th SFG (A) for two years as a cook. This was his second overseas deployment.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones and fellow Soldiers of Spc. Booker," said 5th SFG Commander Col. Kevin Leahy.

Booker's awards include the Army Achievement Medal (5th award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Basic Parachutist Badge.
