On the 16th of December 2-2 AHB conducted its annual Wild Card Holiday Party to celebrate the 2016 holiday season with Soldiers, Family and the local K-16 community.
This was by far the largest holiday party ever organized by 2-2 AHB with excess of 500 people in attendance. With the help of the Rotor Wash Café and the company FRGs, an outstanding holiday meal was prepared. The Wild Cards were extremely grateful for the generous support the battalion received from MWR and the Area II Chaplain's office, without which the Wild Cards would not have been able to have such a successful party. MWR contributed half of the funds for the magic show and sponsored the cash bar while the area II chaplain's office provided for the 33 turkeys, drinks, flatware, and bus transportation to get the Far East Broadcasting Company choir back and forth to K16 from Seoul. Also Thank You to Mr. Larry Lyons and the VFW for providing 300 pieces of Popeye's chicken.
The battalion participated in numerous crafts and entertainment events. With the help of the Good Neighbor Program through 2-2 AHB Unit Ministry Team, 2-2 AHB had performances by a celebrity magician, children's orchestra, and cultural dance group performing Korean and American holiday songs. In total, there were 72 local children performing for the Wild Cards Battalion. The FRGs and BN staff planned and executed awesome activities for the children: craft tables, cookie-decorating, bouncy house, play area, and popcorn and cotton candy. The appearance of Santa and the decorated Blackhawk was a hit for kids of all ages.
During the holiday season when everyone should be spending time with family and friends, not all Soldiers have the ability to travel home to see loved ones. The Wild Cards holiday party helped to bridge that gap and share fellowship and instill a sense of Family and togetherness for the Soldiers and Families of K-16 during the 2016 holiday season.
