USAG YONGSAN -- The U. S. Army Garrison Yongsan Library hosted Christmas Story Hour, Dec. 6, inviting USAG Yongsan Commander Col. and Mrs. J. Scott Peterson as storytellers.
Approximately 60 children and parents from the Area II community participated in the event, which was preceded by several pieces of holiday music from the Eighth U.S. Army Band, including excerpts from the Nutcracker ballet and "Jingle Bells" to boost the Christmas atmosphere.
The event kicked off with an invocation by USAG Yongsan Chaplain Lt. Col. Young D. Kim. Afterwards, Mrs. Peterson and children cut a Christmas cake to celebrate the event.
The young audience enjoyed listening to the stories and were even more surprised by a surprise visit from Santa Claus bearing gifts for the children. The library also served slices of turkey with trimmings and other refreshments for lunch.
