Want all the latest news and information about Redstone Arsenal wherever, whenever?

There's an app for that.

Launching Thursday, the Redstone Explorer app will be available for download via the App Store and Google Play. A one stop shop for official information about Redstone, the app will provide critical alerts, links to Team Redstone social media feeds, information about resources on Redstone, and maps pointing out gates and gate traffic, as well as where recreation and other services are located. The app allows for push notifications, empowering Team Redstone officials to communicate breaking news with users.

"Redstone Arsenal is America's Garrison of the Future," Garrison Commander Col. Tom Holliday said. "As we move forward, our communication methods are changing fast. The new Redstone Explorer app helps us to reach out to you when it becomes necessary. So download the app and start using it today."

Designed by the Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center's Army Game Studio, the app was developed by team members of the Aviation and Missile Command's Advanced Leadership Investment for Tomorrow Class. When it came time for class members to decide on a project that would benefit Redstone, they settled on the idea of an app quickly, according to Markeeva Morgan, a member of the class.

"We thought, if there were a way to consistently get broadly disseminated official information from the Arsenal, that would be great," Morgan said. "Why isn't there an app for that?"

Thanks to their hard work, as well as the Army Game Studio's, today there is.

"We think we've been able to produce a product that will be beneficial not just to Arsenal employees, but to the community, and anyone who is interested in what's going on at Redstone Arsenal," Morgan said. "The big thing is we want people to use it."

So whether it be checking out the traffic at Gate 9 before heading into work or finding something fun to do on the installation, like getting in a round of golf at the Links or bowling at Redstone Lanes, Redstone Explorer users will have a new way of receiving information related to Team Redstone.

"It becomes a foundation for something that can grow into an even better mechanism for making sure that our workforce, our community and all of our stakeholders, inside and outside the Arsenal, have the best information possible," Morgan said. "This is about education and engagement."
