A fresh breeze came through the Corpus Christi Army Depot as the local hockey team thanked military and Army civilians with free vouchers to a game dedicated to those who serve.

The North American Hockey League Corpus Christi IceRays arrived at the depot early on Nov. 7 to make a game plan on how to invite the depot workforce of more than 5,000 employees to their Stars & Stripes Night hockey game on Nov. 19.

Stars & Stripes Night is their annual commemorative game honoring military, first responders and law enforcement. This year, the IceRays went against the Lone Star Brahmas at the American Bank Center, and won 4-1. The Brahmas are currently in the lead for the South Division.

Armed with thousands of tickets, the 23 jersey-clad men walked through the shops, offices and hangars greeting depot employees, and inviting them and their families to the upcoming game. The IceRays annual depot walkthrough is a special treat for civilian employees as a sign of appreciation from the community that they can share with their families.

On Feb. 7, 2015, the IceRays set a junior franchise record for the highest attendance as well as a league attendance mark, bringing in 6,965 fans during the annual Stars & Stripes Night.
