REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- Army Materiel Command's wellness division and the Fort Campbell Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness Training Center recently collaborated to offer Team Redstone "Building a Better You" workshops to increase workforce productivity and efficiency.

More than 100 employees from across Redstone Arsenal participated in one of the five, 3-hour workshops offered, Nov 15-17.

The "Building a Better You" workshop taught a set of skills called Academic Performance Training under the Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness program. The skills included: plan and prioritize your time, remember what you read, take effective notes and attack your reading.

"The Academic Performance Training is just one of the training curriculums that falls under the CSF2 umbrella," said Valerie Francis, AMC Fitness and Resiliency coordinator. "We renamed the workshop, 'Building a Better You,' to draw more interest, especially for the civilian-centric Redstone Arsenal population."

Learning more effective ways to take notes and remembering data found in regulations were just two areas participants needed help with. The attack your reading skill taught specifically how to read technical reports, regulations and policies by using active processes to aide comprehension, knowledge retention and efficiency.

"I think this training would be very helpful to personnel that are interested in improving themselves," said Morris Holden, chief support operations in AMC's G-6.

While this was the first time the training was offered, it may not be the last.

"The training offered to AMC and Team Redstone was a great success," Francis said. "The interest was so great, we had 50 individuals on a wait list for future sessions. I am already collaborating with the training team to offer the workshop again in the future."
