FORT BENNING, Ga., (Oct. 12, 2016) -- The Faulkner University Eagles showcased their team depth, especially during the second half, as they cruised past the Fort Benning Doughboys 38-14 Oct. 9 at Doughboy Stadium.

"We played a really good game," said Thomas Charles Threatt Jr, 5th Squadron, 15th Cavalry Regiment, assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. "People stepped up in this game by playing roles they have never played before. Not only did they play those roles, but they understood what to do in those roles and I think that this game really showed that.

"The problem came during the second half of the game. The Faulkner Eagles have more players on their team than we do so if some of their players get tired they can switch them out more effectively than we can when our players lose some of that steam. The key is repetition in our training."

Jonathan Logan, 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, Fort Benning Doughboys quarterback echoed similar thoughts on the game.

"The team is getting a lot better. We're starting to grow from our practices. We've been spending more time with each other because of the games and the team is really coming together now."

"The only thing is that we are short on guys. We don't have a lot of players on our team, but our knowledge of football is growing and it shows. As a team, we are getting better."

The loss dropped Fort Benning to 0-4 on the season. The Doughboys next game will be against the Alabama Prep Bearcats in Birmingham, Alabama Oct. 16.
