On Camp Red Cloud in Uijeongbu Sept. 30, Command Sgt. Maj. Steven L. Payton, U.S. Forces Korea's senior enlisted leader, presents commemorative coins to Soldiers of the Camp Red Cloud Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) program for their role in a recent athletic event that highlighted the theme of suicide prevention. The event, called the "2nd to None Challenge," was held Sept. 18 at the Camp Red Cloud Fitness Center. Soldiers had to do 22 repetitions in each of several muscle-strengthening exercises, including, among others, pullups, the bench press, and deadlifts. Winners were chosen on who completed the required exercises in the shortest time. The Challenge was an initiative of Command Sgt. Maj. Michael L. Berry, senior enlisted leader of U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I, in observance of September's annual Suicide Prevention Month. Payton awarded coins to five winners of the Challenge and another seven BOSS volunteers who supported it, and also presented a coin to Camp Red Cloud BOSS program adviser Yong-ae Black. In brief remarks at the presentation, Payton thanked the Soldiers and others for their efforts to highlight the suicide prevention theme, and praised them for their day-to-day military service in the Area I region, which he termed the "tip of the spear." -- U.S. Army photos by Staff Sgt.
