FORT BENNING, Ga., (Sept. 21, 2016) -- The Fort Benning Doughboys completed their second season game against the Point University Skyhawks Sept. 18 at Doughboy Stadium, finishing the game with seven points to the Skyhawks' 33 points.

"The strategy never changed throughout the game," said Bob Risdon, head coach for the Doughboys.

"We come out and try to run the ball like we do all the time. When they put too many men in the box, we tried to throw the ball."

"Defensively, I thought we played pretty well," said Risdon. "Our strategy was to try and shut down what they were trying to do but we had some bad plays in the first half. However, I thought we played much better in the second half than the first half. Offensively, we did okay. I just think we could've executed a little better."

"We're starting to put it together," said Jonathan Logan, 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, quarterback for the Doughboys. "We only gave up three big plays in the first quarter. After that, defense started holding them down. The team is really starting to come together. It's a couple of big plays that get us.

"We have a better understanding of our roles within the offense and defense now. Guys are starting to understand who does what. We're really starting to blend together now."

The Doughboys next game will be against the Faulkner University Eagles at Faulkner University Sept. 18.

Risdon spoke positively about their next game against the Faulkner University Eagles.

"We'll get better moving forward," said Risdon. "The more we practice this season, the better we'll get. We're going up against Faulkner next, which should be a lot of fun. It'll be a tough place to play, but it's fun for the guys because they get to go to a real school and play on their turf. We've played them in the past and we know what to do, so hopefully we can show up next game."
