FORT BENNING, Ga., (Sept. 14, 2016) -- U.S. Army Capt. José Elizabeth accepted the responsibility of commanding the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation's Alpha Company from U.S. Army Capt. Adriana Karmann Sept. 9 in a ceremony at the Institute.
Alpha Company has the responsibility of handling all the administrative and logistics requirements for as many as 2,000 students from up to 27 countries who attend courses at WHINSEC during the year. From transporting to and from airports, to housing, to ensuring they get fed and paid, the company gets it done.
Elizabeth has been at the Institute for several months as an operations officer. He enlisted in the Army and rose to the rank of staff sergeant before being selected for Officer Candidate School. He completed OCS in 2009, commissioned as an Infantry officer and has been at Fort Benning since, serving in multiple units and positions of leadership.
Elizabeth is married, and he and his wife have three daughters and a son.
Karmann graduated from the University of Buenaventura in Cali, Colombia, in 1997. After attending OCS in 2007, she became a logistics officer. She has served as Alpha Company commander for a year, and now will move to the School of Professional Military Studies to serve as the operations officer for the Command and General Staff Officer Course at WHINSEC.
