FORT BENNING, Ga., (Aug. 31, 2016) -- Child and Youth Services hosted the annual Punt, Pass and Kick competition Aug. 27 on French Field.
Boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15 tested their football punting, passing and kicking skills in hopes of advancing to sectional competition.
First-, second- and third- place winners received ribbons, but only first- and second- place winners will advance to the next competition. Every participant received a certificate signed by National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell.
SJ Relf won first place in the 6 to 7 age group. Mikel Byles won second and Lincoln Smith took third.
In the girls 8 to 9 age group, Cinaya Freeman took first and Tatiyana Igitol took second. For the boys, first place went to Aaron Bass, second to Ethan Bresnahan and third to Noah Jones.
In the 10 to 11 age group, Jada Davis took first and Reagan Freeman took second. For the boys, Grayson Strickland took third, V-Tayo Igitol won second and Klayton Koerner won first.
In the girls 12 to 13 age group, Kylee Koerner won first. Twin sisters Andrea Jane Aki-Bitcoin and Ariana Jade Aki-Bitcoin took second and third respectively. Ethan Smith won first place for the boys. Rafe Anderson took second and third went to Jack Carson.
In the boys 14 to 15 age group, Cody Duffy won first, Xeavier Revelas won second and third place went to Donovan Wallace. For the girls, Johanna Davis won first and Ashley Billings won second.
While the event was a competition, the children also had fun.
"I'm having lots of fun," Byles said. "I like to kick the ball and do the exercises."
"I think I did my best," said Johanna Davis. "I like being out here. It's better than doing homework at
home."
"This is the first time I've played football," Jada Davis said. "Friday, my dad and I were throwing (the football) back and forth in our backyard. I got here early today to practice too."
Coach Ramon Barber emphasized that everyone was a winner, and it is important to encourage and cheer each other on.
"Everyone did a great job," Barber said.
