The Hot Summer Fun 5k Run began at 8 a.m., Aug. 13, at the Collier Community Fitness Center. Even though the weather was scorching, reaching about 30˚C, participants were ready to go, lining up at the starting line. Runners could complete on their own level with the four different divisions, male, female, boy and girl categories.

Despite the hot and humid weather, everyone that started the race, finished the race.

I took part in the 5k run to get out of my normal routine, said Matt Clark, winner of the men's division. I was a little behind my personal record but I felt fine when I passed the finish line even though it is very hot outside.

There was an award ceremony following the run recognizing the first and second place of all four divisions. There were other prizes, ranging from $15-$25, given out to a few lucky participants who had their number drawn at the end.

Here are the names and records for awardees of each division.
