Paratroopers of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, began a Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise (CALFEX) Aug. 4 which will run through Aug. 15, 2016, on Fort Bragg, N.C.

The CALFEX validates the ability of company commanders to plan and conduct a tactically sound, safe, and realistic exercise, so they can build adaptive and lethal teams within their own organizations and apply the principles of fire control, planning, safety, and risk mitigation in a combat environment.

The CALFEX training is physically and mentally demanding, and serves as the building block for the Brigade's battalion-live fires later this year.
