Command Sgt. Maj. Dave Davenport, the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, senior enlisted leader, visited the 80th Training Command's Transportation Senior Leader and Advance Leader courses at Fort Eustis, Va., Aug. 4, 2016.

Davenport spoke about NCO 2020 a revolutionary initiative by U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command to develop a deliberate, data-driven process to assess the needs of tomorrow's professional NCOs. He also talked about future changes in the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development System, initiatives with the Army Career Tracker, the digital rucksack and the digital job book. Davenport explained how each initiative will feed NCOPDS in the future and be used in the institutional, self-development and organizational domains of learning.

Command Sgt. Maj. Jeff Darlington, the 80th TC senior enlisted leader who accompanied Davenport, impressed on each group the importance of completing the training. He challenged the leaders to return to their sections, squads and platoons to be the premier trainers who will shape the future of our Army.

Darlington also challenged the leaders to embrace the principals of "Not in my squad" and create the desired culture in the formations they are responsible for. NIMS is designed to improve communication and leader engagement in the Army.
