GRAFENWOEHR, Germany - The U.S. Army's largest overseas training command welcomed its newest commander today here.

Brig. Gen. Antonio A. Aguto took the reins of the 7th Army Training Command from Maj. Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli during a change of command ceremony on the Grafenwoehr parade field.

The ceremony also marked the change of the command's name from the Joint Multinational Training Command back to its original designation as the 7th Army Training Command.

Aguto comes to 7ATC after a deployment to Afghanistan, where he served as commanding general for Combined Joint Task Force 7. He is no stranger to the area, having previous served with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Vilseck, Germany.

"This community holds a special place in our hearts...and we are honored to be given the chance to serve here once again," said Aguto.

Cavoli was appointed to the rank of major general during the ceremony. He is slated to take command of the Army's 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii.

Cavoli's two-year tour as commanding general of the Army's largest overseas training command focused on incorporating realistic and relevant training experiences for U.S., NATO and partner nation units in Europe, with a particular emphasis on multinational interoperability.

"During my tenure here I have had the opportunity to focus our exercises on the practical questions of interoperating across national lines in difficult and advance warfighting situations," he said.

"We are lucky to have such wonderful training infrastructure in Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels," said Cavoli, "and to be centrally located so that our Allies have the opportunity to come work with us."

Cavoli said he will not only miss the friendships he has developed with the Bavarian community, but also the food, the country side and close access to skiing in the Alps.
