U.S. Army requests use of Dulmen Tower Barracks facility

U.S. Army Europe has requested use of the British Forces Germany site at Dülmen in the October time frame.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashe Carter announced in March 2016 the Fiscal Year 2017 European Reassurance Initiative request will be used to provide additional prepositioned, combat ready equipment ready for rapid deployment throughout the continent. USAREUR plans to use former equipment storage depots in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium to store this equipment.

The site at Dülmen is well suited to meet our immediate equipment storage needs with large warehouses, a fully functioning railhead and well maintained equipment maintenance shops. Installation Management Command Europe has received notification from the German government acknowledging the availability of the Dülmen site for U.S. forces use.

At this time it is too early to speculate what workforce will be needed at the facility.
