USAG YONGSAN -- The adult coloring program, "Keep Calm and Color On," held its very first meeting June 30, 10:30-11:30 a.m., at the U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan Library. The class was free and offered light refreshments. About 10 people took part in the program. The program is designed to help people relieve stress and relax for one or two hours.

"I found that many Soldiers, civilian employees and their family members usually have stress issues. To lessen the problem, I came up with the idea of coloring", said Janette McLaughlin, the coordinator of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). "Coloring makes people relax, block negative thoughts that occur during stressful situations and help manage their stress."

Participants carefully colored elaborate pictures using colored pencils in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

"Coloring is a hobby that I can definitely recommend to my friends," said Kimberly James, one of the participants of the program. "It is not an activity just for kids. It really helps me relax and soothe my mind."

The program will continue with workshops taking place once a month on July 21, Aug. 25, Sept. 29 and Oct. 27. For more information on how to register for this activity, please contact the Yongsan Library Check-out Desk at DSN 723-7380.
