Last month the Army published its business strategy. The Army Business Strategy (ABS), 2017-2021, provides a strategic foundation upon which the Army can apply enterprise approaches for the improvement of business operation to generate and sustain readiness. It replaces the 2013 Army Business Management Strategy and is a more robust operational design for establishing strategic direction for Army business operations.

The strategy outlines goals and objectives that address the business environment's most significant strategic challenges and will focus business leaders on the improvement and assessment of business process performance, developing leaders and managers, enabling resource informed decision-making and IT portfolio management.

The Office of Business Transformation (OBT) will oversee the ABS' execution through the Army Business Council, providing quarterly updates on performance related to the achievement of strategic objectives to enable decision-making for senior leaders and to engage them in overcoming significant obstacles to the strategy. A full, formal review of progress in the achievement of ABS objectives and action plans will be conducted annually.
