GOI continues to support SOI payments

BAGHDAD - Members of the Sons of Iraq from the Yarmouk and Hateen neighborhoods wait in line to receive their pay in the Mansour district of northwest Baghdad Feb. 10.  The Government of Iraq assumed fiscal responsibility of the SOI late last year and continue to support the organization whose members have been offered opportunities for employment with Iraqi Security Forces and various other programs.

BAGHDAD - An Iraqi Army Soldier serving with the 2nd Battalion, 54th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division oversees the payment of a member of the Sons of Iraq in the Mansour district of northwest Baghdad Feb. 10. The Government of Iraq continues to support the SOI, who work as neighborhood guards to assist in securing the people of northwest Baghdad.

BAGHDAD - Members of the Sons of Iraq wait for their pay from the Iraqi Government in the Mansour district of northwest Baghdad Feb. 10. Iraqi Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 54th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division provided security for the event with support from the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad.
"As each payday passes, our confidence in the GoI to support us as Iraqis grows," said Col. Yassin, SOI Leader from the Mansour district.

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Officials and Iraqi Army Soldiers serving with the 2nd Battalion, 54th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division work out payments with members of the Sons of Iraq in the Mansour district of northwest Baghdad Feb. 10. More than 60 SoI members received pay for their assistance in security; 24 members are scheduled to start training as police officers at the Furat Police Academy in southeast Mansour.
