Team Redstone is gearing up to celebrate the Army Warrant Officer Corps 98th Birthday with events around the installation, July 8.

The celebration will kick-off with the second annual Team Redstone Warrant Officer Birthday Run/Walk at the Exchange parking lot. The crowd will gather at 6 a.m. and the event starts at 6:30. Participants can run in military formation or walk on their own. The course is two miles and there is no cost or pre-registration.

"We encourage the entire Redstone community to come out for the celebration, including spouses and children, if they want to participate," said Chief Warrant Officer 2 Tracy Duncan, executive officer to the Army Materiel Command's command chief warrant officer.

Following the run, everyone is invited to attend a ceremony and cake cutting at the AMC headquarters building on the parade field, at 11:30 a.m.

The keynote speaker will be Maj. Gen. Allen Harrell, commander of the 167th Theater Sustainment Command in Anniston, Alabama. In addition, the ceremony will honor retired Chief Warrant Officer 2 Billy Shields who served in World War II.

Later that afternoon, the day will conclude with a nine-hole scramble golf tournament at the Links at Redstone, at 3 p.m. Anyone interested in playing can register in the AMC lobby on June 20 or July 1 during lunch, or the day of the event at 2 p.m. at the golf course.

"These events are a great way to commemorate the Chief Warrant Officer birthday," Duncan said. "It's an opportunity for Redstone to get together and celebrate 98 great years."

Leading up to July 8, Team Redstone's warrant officers are also hosting a food drive. The goal is to collect 100 pounds of canned foods which will be donated to Army Community Service to give to the Food Bank of North Alabama. Anyone wanting to donate non-perishable items can drop them off in the lobby of AMC headquarters or at other lobbies around the Arsenal.
