FORT BENNING, Ga., (June 8, 2016) -- Fort Benning is looking for boxers in all weight classes to enter into upcoming competitions. Both beginner and experienced boxers will be able to train with qualified coaches at the F3 Training Center off Warm Springs Road in Columbus, Georgia.
The boxers are funded through Fort Benning sports, but they are required to purchase their own footwear and registration with USA Boxing.
The first competition is Fight Night Aug. 27 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Boxers will get a chance to compete and fight for their unit and Fort Benning against other installations.
"The event will be televised and streamed online," said Amy Williams from the MWR Sports Office.
Ballroom Boxing is Oct. 15 at the Uchee Creek Army Campground and Marina. The theme is 1940s in honor of the glory days of boxing. Spectators can come dressed in their finest 40s themed costumes for a chance to win best dressed.
"The Fort Benning Boxing teams is the 2014 and 2015 defending champions and plan to win the belt again," said Williams.
