Food service specialists from throughout the 82nd Airborne Division put their kitchen prowess to the test during the All American Week 2016 Culinary Competition at the Culinary Arts Training Center on Fort Bragg, N.C., May 23.
Five teams, one from each dining facility in the Division, each prepared a four course meal including a soup, salad, main course and dessert to be judged by brigade and Division leadership. Team grading was based on several criteria including food handling, organization, cooking technique, use of ingredients, presentation and taste.
"This is an opportunity for All American food service specialists to showcase the skills they have, not just as cooks but as culinarians," said Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jason Page, the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Abn. Div. food adviser. "Many of these Paratroopers have serious skill in the kitchen and deserve a chance to show it off."
After judging concluded, the 2nd BCT Dining Facility won first place, 1st BCT in second and 3rd BCT in third.
