USAREUR announces command's best military journalists, broadcasters

HEIDELBERG, Germany - U.S. Army, Europe selected its best military and civilian journalists and broadcasters from nearly 100 entries during the 2006 Maj. Gen. Keith L. Ware journalism competition.

Judging concluded Jan. 31.

The 1st Armored Division's journalists and photographers captured seven first-place finishes.

Sgt. Mary E. Ferguson, 3rd Corps Support Command, earned USAREUR Journalist of the Year honors and Pfc. Jonathan Pruett, 21st Theater Support Command, was selected as USAREUR's "Rising Star" broadcaster.

The Keith L. Ware competition recognizes excellence in journalism and broadcasting and was named for Maj. Gen. Keith L. Ware, a former Army Chief of Public Affairs. Ware earned the Medal of Honor during World War II and was killed while commanding the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam in 1968.
