Students had a "field day" May 13 at C.C. Pinkney Elementary School during an annual tradition to "promote team building amongst students," through "competitive sportsmanship in way to celebrate the end of school year," said Maureen Voorhees, the president of CCP's Parent-Teacher Organization.
Students competed in variety of activities including bean bag tosses, three-legged races, egg walks, and a variety of relay races. After a lunch break, the students watched as a fifth grade teacher, Greg Bass was chased and tackled by a Military Working Dog during a demonstration.
"Being chased and tackled by a working dog felt unreal," Bass said afterward. "It makes you wonder what it would have felt like if you did not have a protective suit. If a police dog ever chases you freeze."
The last day of school for C.C. Pinckney students is June 3.
