FORT BENNING, Ga., (May 18, 2016) -- The Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce recognized several Fort Benning schools and their Partners in Education May 10 for outstanding partnership achievements.

The Frank R. Loyd Elementary School partners, which include WRBL, Kinetic Credit Union and the 2nd Battalion, 58th Infantry Regiment, 198th Infantry Brigade, were named in the top ten of PIE partners in the greater Columbus area.

"The children will always remember the people who were not their teachers, not their parents but considered them important enough to spend time with them," said Julita Martinez, the principal of Frank R. Loyd Elementary.

Martinez compared Loyd's PIE partners to diamonds saying, "Diamonds get evaluated by four c's: carat weight, cut, color and clarity. Our partners are worth their weight in gold. They're edgy. And they're transparent. There are no hidden agendas with our partners."

"I correlated the four c's on the diamonds to the four c's that we use to evaluate our partnerships," Martinez continued.

Those four c's are coordination, collaboration, communication and commitment, she explained.

Faith Middle School's PIE partners were also named in the top ten by the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

Faith Middle School's PIE partners are Central Texas College, the Directorate of Emergency Services, the 209th military police detachment, the Faith Middle School Parent Teacher Organization, Troy University, and the HHC 3-11th Infantry Officer Candidate School.

"Anything we need, no matter what it is. They're always there without fail," said Carricia Simpson, a sixth-grade teacher and the PIE coordinator for Faith Middle School.

Additionally, Wilson Elementary and E.A. White Elementary's PIE partners were also named in the top 10. The 2nd Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment, 199th Infantry Brigade on Fort Benning, one of Blackmon Road Middle School's PIE partners, was also recognized in the top ten.
