ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. -- On an ever evolving Army, it is easy to lose focus on the small things even though one of the first things young privates hear by a yelling drill sergeant in Basic Training is… ATTENTION TO DETAILS, PRIVATE!

Just like that drill sergeant, Staff Sgt. Zachary Stockstill, the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Command (CBRNE) motor pool sergeant, is determined to maintain his unit focused and mission-ready.

Stockstill took his unit to one of the test range at Aberdeen Test Center, and in conjunction with the ATC recovery team, they performed Recovery Training on April 27.

"It is our solemn duty as NCOs (non-commissioned officers) to teach, mentor, and train these Soldiers to one day fill our shoes so they can teach, mentor, and train the next generation of Soldiers," said Stockstill.

Sergeant's Time Training is a tool for NCOs to provide their Soldiers and junior NCOs with quality hands-on training to keep them proficient at their military occupational specialty. It is also the time when leaders bring the training publications or Technical Manuals to life.

Sergeant's Time Training is about building and maintaining readiness.

A few months ago, when Stockstill arrived to the unit, he discovered what he referred to as "gaps in the skill set" of his Soldiers, and he decided to fix it through STT.

"We train every Wednesday using the Crawl, Walk, Run Approach," said Stockstill. "I would like to do this type of training again at a "run" level with larger mired vehicles after the Ulchi Freedom Guardian mission, but it hasn't been scheduled just yet," he added.
