HANNOVER, DE (Mar. 25, 2016) -- The USAREUR Band & Chorus was proud to help support this years' Hannover Messe, in Hannover, DE. One of the largest trades fairs in the world, representatives from key technologies and core industries presented many of their current and future research and developments. This year, the United States was selected as the partner country for the Messe, and featured many US based companies, offering an opportunity to showcase the future of US based technologies. Exhibitions included presentations from Google, Microsoft, and many of the lead companies involved in the latest developments in robotics and 3-D printing technology.
The USAREUR Band & Chorus assisted by performing for the opening ceremonies, and several of the receptions that followed. Performances by the Excelsior Brass Quintet, the USAREUR Winds, and Die Musik Brigade, highlighted the musical aspect of the Messe, providing entertainment to vendors, observers, and U.S. President Barrack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. President Obama said regarding the U.S. support of the Messe: "I am here because we are ready to do even more business with Germany, more business with Europe and more business with the world."
Maj. Milburn, commander and conductor of the USAREUR Band & Chorus, had this to say regarding supporting the Hannover Messe: "I am extremely proud of the work done to plan and execute our support to President Obama during his visit to the Hannover Messe. While his attendance added several extra layers of coordination to our normal processes, the fact is our mission calls for us to be "world class" regardless of the audience and we prove it every time we leave home station. Representatives of the White House, US Department of Commerce, and their German counterparts all expressed their appreciation for our presence, further validating our commitment to seeing each job done well."
