ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- (May 2, 2016) The Rock Island Arsenal Transportation Office is available to assist those scheduled to permanently change station this summer. For those expecting to move this summer season, the Rock Island Office Transportation Office ask members to be aware of the high volume of moves beginning the middle of May through September, to include pickup, transportation and delivery. As soon as orders are received contact the installation Transportation Office to set up a counseling appointment to ship your Household Goods.
Members should plan to be flexible when selecting a date for packing, pickup and delivery. Never schedule a pickup or delivery on the closing date of a residence, on the last day of residency in an apartment, the day of termination of a lease, or the day a cleaning crew is scheduled to start.
Transportation's team of subject matter experts is prepared to assist members with their movement needs. Counselors are available to assist with:
• Clarifying entitlements
• Updating customer records
• Arranging for delivery of a shipment
• Changing delivery dates
• Tracing a shipment or locating property
• Privately-owned vehicle guidance
• Permanent storage guidance on extending/releasing property
• Claims guidance/points of contact
• Documentation
• Providing carrier/agent contact information
• Time limit extension guidance
• Personally procured moves (counseling/reimbursement)
Customers are encouraged to keep the HHGs counselors abreast of their contact information at all times. Doing so will facilitate delivery of vital shipping information and afford Transportation the best opportunity to meet the customer's move expectations. Transportations counselors can be reached at 309-782-1360/1378. The Transportation office is located in Building 102, 1st floor, NE wing. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Additionally, customers can access detailed key shipping information, links and videos on the move.mil website at www.move.mil. Service members are strongly encouraged to utilize this site throughout the entire move process. Those who have further questions or require additional assistance should contact Traffic Manager Sherry Duburg at 309-782-1357 or Installation Transportation Officer DeShonda Davis-Locke at 309-782-5602.
