PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. -- Project Manager Soldier Weapons hosted a change-of-management ceremony for Product Manager Individual Weapons on April 8 in Picatinny Arsenal's Lindner Conference Center.
During the 40-minute traditional military event, Lt. Col. Terry R. Russell transferred management responsibility for PM IW to Barbara Muldowney as 100 invited guests and employees looked on.
Brig. Gen. Brian C. Cummings, Program Executive Office Soldier, attended and spoke briefly during the event.
PM Soldier Weapons Col. Brian S. Stehle presided over the ceremony as Russell passed the symbolic PM IW charter to his successor.
Stehle also honored Russell with the Meritorious Service Medal for his contributions and accomplishments.
Cummings called Russell "a great Army leader who's done an exceptional job putting new weapons in Soldiers' hands."
"I want to thank T.R. for all that he's done during his tenure," Cummings said.
Stehle also praised Russell's leadership and singled out how valuable he was when (Stehle) first arrived.
"T.R. took me aside and quickly got me up to speed on the IW portfolio," he said.
Russell said he was extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to lead PM IW and work for Soldiers. He also praised the IW staff for its commitment and hard work during his tenure.
"We accomplished a number of important things together," he told the IW workforce.
Muldowney will serve as acting product manager individual weapons until a permanent replacement for Russell is named.
