YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea - Over 150 Eighth Army Senior leaders and spouses from across the peninsula gathered to discuss various topics and issues during the two-day commander's onsite at the Yongsan Garrison's Dragon Hill Lodge Apr. 19-20.
Hosted by Eighth Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Thomas Vandal, the onsite included team-building physical readiness training (PRT), Grab & Go breakfast, briefings, discussions, and social events,
"We are counting on each of you to let us know how we can make our organization better," said Vandal in his welcome message.
During the conference, Lt. Gen. Vandal spoke in depth about his priorities: readiness, teamwork, leadership, and discipline and generated an honest dialogue about lessons learned and new ideas in order to make a difference within the command.
The onsite provided leaders with a wealth of knowledge. Topics addressed range from command climate surveys, Transformation and Relocation to Reception, Staging, Onward Movement and Integration (RSOI) and rotational forces. In addition, leaders were briefed on the new communication guidance and the Eighth Army Blue Book.
Also present for the onsite was a guest speaker from the Republic of Korea Army Lt. Gen. Chun, In-beom. He provided information about Korean military history, which facilitated understanding among participants of the Alliance between South Korea and the United States.
