Online registration is open for 2016 DoD Warrior Games

Online registration is now open to participate in the 2016 Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games at Volunteers, media and distinguished visitors--as well as selected athletes, family members, non-medical attendants, staff and coaches--must register online to participate. The U.S. Army will host the DoD Warrior Games at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York, from June 15-21.

The DoD Warrior Games is an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Approximately 250 athletes will participate in eight sporting events, representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command and United Kingdom Armed Forces. The DoD Warrior Games highlight the resiliency and warrior spirit of service members, veterans and their families and caregivers.

The DoD Warrior Games represent the culmination of participation in structured adaptive sports and reconditioning activities of wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans through their recovery by encouraging participation in physical and cognitive activities, inspiring physical fitness, mental strength, peer support and encouraging new opportunities for growth and achievement.

Spectators are invited to attend and support the athletes during the 2016 DoD Warrior Games, including opening and closing ceremonies, and registration is not required.

Volunteer information:

Volunteer support is necessary in order to put on an event worthy of the hundreds of wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans competing throughout the DoD Warrior Games. No special expertise is required and mandatory DoD Warrior Games volunteer training will be provided. Lodging, food and transportation are all at the volunteer's expense. Volunteer positions include escorts, back up scorers, cheering squad and spectators, crowd control, parking guide, runner, set up/clean up, and time keeper, etc. The USMA is a federal installation and additional documentation may be required for individuals requesting access.
