CAMP ZAMA, Japan -- The medical community recognizes tobacco use as the most important preventable cause of death and chronic illness in the United States. The BG Crawford F. Sams U.S. Army Health Clinic (MEDDAC-Japan) continues its commitment to beneficiaries as a System for Health in support of the 2020 Department of Defense (DOD) goal for creating tobacco free workforce and installations.

On April 1, 2016, Maj. Gen. James Pasquarette, commanding general, U.S. Army Japan (USARJ), helped MEDDAC-Japan celebrate becoming a Tobacco Free Medical Campus in support of the Tobacco Free Living mission to create a healthier community.

This means tobacco usage will not be permitted in or around all MEDDAC-Japan buildings in order to provide a safe and tobacco free environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Tobacco cessation services are offered and highly encourage to all MEDDAC-Japan beneficiaries.
