ANSBACH, Germany (March 23, 2016) -- U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach and the American Red Cross recognized its community volunteers by hosting a formal dinner in downtown Ansbach Friday.

Col. Christopher M. Benson, USAG Ansbach commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Derek R. Cuvellier, USAG Ansbach command sergeant major, presented volunteers with certificates of appreciation during the ceremony.

During 2015, there were 125 adult and 16 youth volunteers at USAG Ansbach who contributed 14,175 hours of volunteer service, which saved the U.S. Army an estimated $319,649.17.

As part of their service, 17 professional and licensed volunteers in the medical field trained six dental assistants. Volunteers briefed 6,286 personnel and Family members on pre-deployment, American Red Cross programs, in-processing and more. For 13 CPR and first aid classes, there were 85 enrollees. Volunteers supported deployments, assisted with a host nation school field trip, and much more.
