The Fort Sill four-day intramural basketball tournament ended with a game between 1st Battalion, 78th Field Artillery and Medical Activity, with the artillerymen winning 47-46.

The game took place at Rinehart Fitness Center, March 17 and featured a back-and-forth battle. At halftime the score favored MEDDAC 24-17, however, Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Brazill, 1-78th FA coach, said while he wasn't thrilled with the numbers on the scoreboard, he was confident in his team and it's ability to rebound from an unfavorable score.

"Monday we came from behind to beat the seventh seed," he said. "Tuesday we were down again against the second seed at halftime and came back to win. Wednesday down at halftime against the third seed and the same Thursday against the first seed. Overall I'm proud of the (noncomissioned officers) and Soldiers who helped and played all week to get their team into the championship."

The stands were packed with advanced individual training (AIT) Soldiers cheering on their instructors. Between chants and multiple attempts at the wave the Soldiers filled the court with noise -- proof the "sixth man" makes a difference in championship games, said Brazill.

"We would have lost the final game if it wasn't for the AIT Soldiers that were supporting their instructors," said Brazill. "They were the deciding factor on keeping us motivated and obviously being a distraction to the opposing team."
