FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The world's elite special operations forces will converge on Fort Bragg in March for two uniquely specialized competitions hosted by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. The competitions are designed to challenge the best snipers and best assault teams from special-operations units, federal law enforcement agencies, as well as foreign-partner competitors.

The 2016 USASOC International Sniper Competition will be held March 20-25. Two-man sniper teams will compete in 21 challenging events. These events are derived from special operations soldiers' combat experience and pit snipers against time, distance, and unknown circumstances.

Sniper teams will face tactical challenges moving through an urban environment while engaging targets ranging from 25 meters to 1,000 meters. The events will test the team members' ability to communicate with each other and shoot accurately all while racing to beat the clock.

The first 2016 USASOC International Urban Assault Challenge will be held March 28-31. Four-man teams will compete in a series of 20 combat-oriented events that will challenge skill level, training methods and overall knowledge unique to the Special Operations Assaulter. These battle-hardened commandos will use their skills to highlight their capabilities and persevere through the unknown.

The U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, the U.S. Army's Special Operations Center of Excellence's Special Forces Sniper Course Cadre and Special Forces Advanced Reconnaissance Target Analysis Exploitation Techniques Cadre are administering the competitions, respectively. The SOCoE is also home to other elite training.
