Fort Huachuca, Arizona--The Directorate of Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation; the Sierra Vista Riding Club; and Cochise College will host the Cochise College Rodeo March 5 and 6 at Wren Arena. Gates open at noon and the rodeo will start at 1 p.m. both days. On March 6, Exceptional Rodeo will start at 10 a.m. at the arena, followed by Cowboy Church at noon.

On both March 5 and 6, four-person teams from various units on Fort Huachuca will compete against one another to see which can be the first to put a big pair of underpants on a young steer. Some consider the panty race one of the weekend's highlights. Everyone is invited to come out on either one or both days to cheer their favorite units on to victory.

The Exceptional Rodeo on Sunday pairs those with special needs with actual rodeo participants so those who might not be able to participate otherwise can experience the rodeo for themselves and help bring the excitement of the cowboy world to life.

Cowboy Church is a worship service with a uniquely western flavor and gives participants a glimpse of how pioneering families may have worshipped in Arizona when the West was young.

The rodeo is open to the public and will feature saddle and bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, bull riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying.

Active Duty military and children 5 and under will be admitted free. Advance tickets for the general public are on sale now for $7 at Murr Community Center, Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista Safeway, Ace Hardware-Sierra Vista and at Cochise College's Sierra Vista and Douglas campuses. Tickets will be $8 at the gate.
