WIESBADEN, Germany -- In a joint effort, the United States and allied nations are developing and implementing the Transatlantic Capability Enhancement and Training, or TACET, initiative.

The effort is shaping close coordination with Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

"In today's complex and challenging security environment, we as an alliance cannot afford to waste resources or duplicate efforts," said Maj. Jason Siler, a desk officer in U.S. Army Europe's security cooperation division. "TACET gives us a great opportunity to better coordinate our efforts into leveraged assets across the alliance."

U.S. Army Europe will take the lead on four tasks and objectives: working with allies to enhance training infrastructure; artillery capability, ground-based air defense; and intelligence and reconnaissance.

"We at U.S. Army Europe stand ready and willing to support TACET to enable the alliance, improve our interoperability, and assure our allies," Siler said.
