GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- Maj. Gen. Gwendolyn Bingham, the commander of U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, visited 2nd Cavalry Soldiers taking the Stryker Common Chassis Sustainment Course, Feb. 3, 2016, in Vilseck, Germany.

This course was designed to provide Soldiers holding the MOS 91B and 91S the fundamental skills beyond Advance Individual Training (AIT) to perform diagnostic troubleshooting, malfunction isolation, and corrective action on Stryker common chassis of all variants of the Stryker platform.

"The Stryker is a key platform for 2CR and we want to ensure that these Soldiers have the skill sets they need to continually enhance their readiness," said Bingham.

After watching training, Bingham listened to students input on the course.

"This course is great because it teaches us things we weren't taught in AIT. This is good training for us to take back to our units and share with our peers," said Spc. Jorge Rau, Bravo Troop, Regiment Support Squadron, 2CR.

Bingham explained that so far we have heard nothing but great things about the course from instructors, students and others.

"This course has proven itself to be a very viable asset. This will make 36 students that have successfully completed the course since the first iteration. We have improved from a 66 to 85 percent overall rating, "said Gary A. Cameron, Stryker Maintenance Course instructor.

The Stryker Common Chassis Sustainment Course is a two week course offered quarterly by the Combined Arms Training Center and can be registered for through the Army Training Requirements and Resources System.

Upon successful completion of this 80 credit hours block of instruction, Soldiers also receive promotion points.
