MONS, Belgium - Leaders with Allied Forces North Battalion (AFNORTH), U.S. Army NATO Brigade attended a case study presentation on the First Battle of Grozny, representing the Russian invasion of Grozny, Chechnya in 1994-1995 here Jan. 28.

The leaders' professional development event was organized by Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe's Military History Society. French Lieutenant General Michael Yakovleff, Vice Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, presented the study on contemporary urban warfare in the Public Affairs Auditorium to a crowd of roughly one hundred US and Coalition partners.

A leading goal of the event was to shape the common operating picture of multi-national coalition partners and provide opportunities to examine significant military battles across warfighting specialties.
