FORT DRUM, New York -- Soldiers in the 10th Mountain Division learned how to be more effective at maintenance after implementing Tank-Automotive and Armament Command's (TACOM) Electronic Maintenance System Next Generation (EMS-NG), Dec. 7-11.
TACOM's EMS-NG team from Warren, Michigan trained 70 Soldiers on the latest Maintenance Support Device methods. Army Field Support Battalion-Drum hosted the session. The course included both class room instruction and hands-on training where students investigated and isolated faults on various tactical vehicles.
AFSBn-Drum is a subordinate unit of 406th Army Field Support Brigade headquartered at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The 406th AFSB aligns under the U.S. Army Sustainment Command headquartered at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.
Students used the latest MSD components with the device's associated diagnostic software and applications. Enhanced equipment schematics, Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services, interactive troubleshooting, Autonomous Diagnostic Manger functionality, and parts research and requisition are some of the many improvements the EMS-NG brings.
"The training event went extremely well," said Robert Evans, TACOM Logistics Assistance Representative at Fort Drum. "I was pleased to see how many Soldiers were able to attend the training, and I look forward to presenting classes such as this in the near future."
