PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. -- Richard "Dick" Jackson, Special Assistant to the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General for Law of War Matters receives a replica of Picatinny's Cannon Gates from John Hedderich, Director of the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center, in recognition of his many years of dedicated government service. Jackson is the U.S. Army's legal expert for Law of War matters since his appointment in 2005 and will be retiring in 2016. Jackson received this recognition after he addressed the Picatinny community on the topic of Law of Armed Conflict.
One of his responsibilities was his approval of weapon systems to ensure compliance with the Law of War. Jackson served in the U.S. Army for over 30 years, retiring as a colonel. A West Point graduate, he served in the Infantry, Special Forces, Joint and Coalition command during his military career. He earned his law degree from Georgetown and is a graduate of the Army's Judge Advocate General School and Army War College.
